What Should I Do If My Microsoft / Outlook account was hacked?

If you doubts your Microsoft / Outlook account has been hacked but you still can access to the account. You can do follow a few method:

Method 1: Change your password.

  1. Go to your Microsoft account.
  2. Click Change password.

 

 

    3. Enter Current password, New password, Reenter password. Then click Next.

 

 

 

Note: You should choose a password have least 8 characters, include lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and numbers.

 

Method 2: Check your security info.

1. Go to your Microsoft account.

2. Click Security & privacy on the top page. Then click More security settings. 


 

3. You check email and phone number on the Security settings page is exact yet, make sure that it not change.

 

 

 

 

Method 3: Replace The Recovery Code

  1. Go to your Microsoft account.
  2. Click Security & privacy on the top page. Then click More security settings.

 

 

     3. Pull down to Recovery code and click Replace recovery code.

 

 

     4.  You have a new code, you should follow Microsoft advice, that is " You should print it or write it down, and store it in a safe place". Click Print or OK.

 

 

 

Method 4: Remove all the trusted devices associated with Microsoft account.

1. Go to your Microsoft account.

2. Click Security & privacy on the top page. Then click More security settings.

 

3. Pull down to Trusted devices and click Remove all the trusted devices associated with my account.

 

 

 

4. Click Remove all the trusted devices.

 

 

Method 5: Change Alert Settings.

1. Go to your Microsoft account.

2. Click Security & privacy on the top page. Then click More security settings.

 

3. Pull down and click Change alert options.

 

 

4. Tick on the box next to phone number. Then click Save.

 

 

 

Method 6: Check your microsoft and outlook account activity.

Go to your outlook account, check in all items email to make sure that the hacker didn't personate you and send email to your contacts.

Go to your Microsoft account and check all app you using (such as Skype or Office offline) make sure that nothing change.

 

Method 7: Use an antivirus on your computer.

Run an antivirus to find malware, that may be has been installed on your computer.

If your computers is infected, you change password is not enough, because the malware can take new password and send it to hacker.

So, you should use an antivirus on your computer to protect your computer.
